Coffee Story: Ethiopia
Produced and published by Ninety Plus, Coffee Story: Ethiopia is a 208-page hardcover book of little known Ethiopian coffee tales and folklore related by locals to esteemed adventure writer Majka Burhardt and Ninety Plus during several expeditions into Ethiopia's coffee wilderness from 2006 to 2009. The vivid and socially engaging photography of Travis Horn and landscape photography of his father, Helmut Horn, brilliantly illustrate Majka's vignettes. One can open to any page in this book and find stories and images of traditional coffee uses and myths, of coffee fruit as food, of coffee leaves as tea, and other anecdotes and folklore as told by grandparents about coffee cultures of their grandparents. In addition to the traditional stories unveiled in Coffee Story: Ethiopia, Majka illuminates the currently evolving story of Ethiopia's surging specialty coffee business and of the unique opportunity Ethiopia has to leverage it's thousands of valuable heirloom coffee varieties into greater national prosperity.
